Garret Jon Groenveld

Garret Jon Groenveld is a poet and playwright living in San Francisco, CA with an M?FA in Poetry and an MA in Playwriting from San Francisco State University, who also studied with Edward Albee at the University of Houston. He’s a founding writer of PlayGround and an inaugural member of the Writers in Residence program at the Playwrights Foundation. His play Missives has well-received productions in San Francisco and New York. His play, The Hummingbirds, is a winner of the 2012 GAP Festival from the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley and the winner of the Internationalists Global Playwrighting Prize. This prize included six presentations in six countries (including New York in the U.S., Berlin in Germany, and the Netherlands) and has led to productions worldwide, including an ongoing tour of Romania and an extended run in Mexico City, Mexico, with a remount at a larger theater in spring of 2014.

Margarite Kaplan

Margarite Winer Kaplan has worked in the theater for the last 50 years. She has worked professionally as a dancer, singer, choreographer, actor, director, Dramaturge of Fl Shakespeare Co. and acting coach.  She currently enjoys the position of associate artist/collaborator/actor with SignDance Collective International. As the only American artist, she loves the travel opportunities and cultural awareness this company offers. Margarite is delighted to participate in this playwright competition. Margarite has worked with many writers helping them to define, articulate and shape their dramatic points and rhythms. “If it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the stage” is her motto. She thanks her very supportive family of three hundred blood relations, her mentors, and the many working artists, all of whom continue to inspire and instruct.

Sheri Lee Miller

Sheri Lee Miller

Sheri Lee Miller is a director and actor who has worked with some of the leading theaters on the West Coast, including Seattle Rep, A Contemporary Theater, Tacoma Actors Guild, Gaslamp Quarter Theater, Seattle Children’s Theater and Centerstage. Locally she has been privileged to work with Actors Theater, Cinnabar Theater, Sonoma County Rep, 6th Street Playhouse, Spreckels Theatre Company and Main Stage West.

Most recently, Sheri directed Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike at Main Stage West, Of Mice and Men, The Price and La Cage Aux Folles (SFBACC awards for best direction and costume design) at Cinnabar Theater and The Tempest at Sebastopol Shakes. This past summer she travelled to Scotland to bring David Templeton’s Wretch Like Me to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In the spring she will direct Arcadia at Cinnabar Theater.Sheri is a member of AEA and AFTRA. She holds a B.A. in Acting and Directing from San Diego State University.
