Our first annual Agents Day was held at the Flamingo Hotel on Sunday, June 6th, from 11:30 to 4:00 pm.

This was an opportunity to pitch your book for five minutes to a literary agent, an editor, and/or a publisher. Lunch included. Two hours of pitch sessions were followed by wine, dessert, and more networking. The event was open to members at a cost of $55 per person and to non members at a cost of $60. The event was limited to the first seventy attendees.

Andrea Brown is President of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency. Founded in New York City in 1981, it was the first literary agency to represent both children’s book authors and illustrators. Charlotte Cook, MFA, will be our pitching coach for the day. She is president of KOMENAR Publishing with more than 15 years experience as a publisher, story editor and writing teacher.

April Eberhardt joined Kimberley Cameron & Associates as a Literary Agent in 2008 after five years of editorial work with Zoetrope: All-Story, a literary magazine, and another agency. Her specialty is adult commercial and literary fiction, particularly contemporary urban fiction, ironic family dramas and realistic midlife tales, often with a twist, preferably involving strong female characters.

Georgia Hughes joined New World Library as editorial director in 1999. She acquires and edits nonfiction trade books in the areas of animals, spirituality, personal growth, sustainable business, and women’s issues. www.newworldlibrary.com

Jennifer Joseph has been publisher and editor of Manic D Press since its founding in 1984. Krista Lyons has been in book publishing for 13 years. She is currently the VP, Publisher of Seal Press, a member of the Perseus Books Group and has been working with Seal since late 2003. In her work with authors, Krista’s focus is on non-fiction written by women for women. Laurie McLean is an agent at Larsen Pomada Literary Agents. Laurie represents adult genre fiction (romance, fantasy, science fiction, horror, nouveau westerns, mysteries, suspense, thrillers, etc.) as well as middle-grade and young-adult books.
