As part of a pilot, Redwood Writers and Unlimited Publishing released three titles in 2008 and one title in 2009, Redwood Writers as the contributing publisher and UP as the distributing publisher. This was a no-cost production that required the branch to learn a great deal about editing, proofing, and especially, marketing. Meaning of Water
The Meaning of Water is a collection of stories by Marianne Ware that runs the gamut from intense childhood experiences to contemporary satire. The title piece tells of a young girl who becomes a veritable “wild child,” at the camp her parents manage in upstate New York. Other stories explore the nature and origins of sexual guilt and the minds and hearts of a well-meaning, if vicarious, Jewish mother. The most controversial piece probes the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of molesting the daughters of his lover.

Author: Marianne Ware recently retired from teaching English and Creative Writing at Santa Rosa Junior College. She was a founder of the Russian River Writers’ Guild and has published poetry, fiction and non-fiction in more than a hundred literary magazines, anthologies and tabloids.
