SESSIONS 1 & 2

Sessions 1 and 2

Writing Mentor

So many people have a story to tell but they don’t think it has value or matters and they feel frustrated and invisible. They struggle with writing.

I’m Mary Knippel, your writing mentor. With my 30-years as a journalist, I help you craft your story and share it in a powerful way so you feel validated and seen. If you are ready to get support, please sign up for a coaching session with me.

Mary Knippel

MARY KNIPPEL

As the San Francisco Writers Conference Independent Editor Coordinator for the past seven years, I have helped hundreds of aspiring writers gain clarity and confidence in the concept of their particular project and how to articulate who their audience is as well as well as the essence of how this project will change the world.

The memoir is very dear to my heart along with entrepreneurial non-fiction "how-to" books. As a journalist, I have a reputation for drawing out the story you are not telling, and each time I work with someone on their Bio or About Me section, they are amazed at what we tap into when I ask them questions no one has ever asked them before.

Jordan Rosenfeld

JORDAN ROSENFELD

Jordan is author of the suspense novels Women in RedForged in Grace and Night Oracle as well as the writing guides Writing the Intimate CharacterWriting Deep Scenes: Plotting Your Story Through Action, Emotion & Theme, A Writer’s Guide to Persistence: How to Create a Lasting & Productive Writing Practice Make a Scene: Crafting a Powerful Story One Scene at a Time, and, with Rebecca Lawton, Write Free: Attracting the Creative Life–soon to have a second edition.

I have a simple philosophy in all that I do: “Practice. Polish. Persist.” Make your writing life into an ongoing, deep writing practice that can survive the test of time, discouragement and change. Never stop trying to become better and polish your work, learn new things, take classes and feed both your muse and your craft. But what will set you apart is your persistence. Don’t give up. If you need help with any of these things, I’m here to help you.

Sessions 1 and 2

Writing Coach

As the author of five books on writing craft, Jordan brings her own understanding of the writing process and is especially fond of working with clients who are in some stage of writing a novel or a memoir.

BETH BARANY

Beth Barany is a certified creativity coach, NLP Practitioner, and keynote speaker. She helps fiction writers get their writing done and out into the world via Barany School of Fiction and the Writer’s Fun Zone blog. She's the bestselling author of The Writer's Adventure Guide and Overcome Writer's Block. Her most recent book for writers is Twitter For Authors.

Beth writes young adult fantasy, paranormal romance, and soon, science fiction murder mystery. Her young adult epic fantasy novel, Henrietta The Dragon Slayer, the first book in a trilogy, won the Grand Prize in the 2012 California Book Fiction Challenge. Check out her free 5-day Writer's Motivation mini-course: bethb.net/5daycourse.

When Beth isn’t writing or helping writers, she loves to walk and run, travel near and far (yes, Paris!), and watch action and funny movies with her awesome husband, bestselling author Ezra Barany. They live in Oakland amid creative chaos and a lot of books, art, and collages.

Sessions 3 and 4

Creativity Coach

Beth Barany works with genre novelists to help them write, market, and publish their fiction. Through her courses, programs, and one-to-one sessions, Beth works with writers of romance, mystery, suspense, thriller, fantasy, science fiction, or a mashup of these.

She helps them overcome writers block, develop a strong writing habit that works for their life, plan their novels, and become better writers through understanding of craft, character, and story structure. She also helps writers get comfortable with marketing and learn how to self-publish or traditional-publish their books.
