Contest Chairwoman:

Linda Loveland Reid is the author of two published novels, Touch of Magenta andSomething in Stone. Her writing has won short story contests and is published in many anthologies.

Reid is an instructor for Sonoma State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute where she teaches art history courses for which she has designed the curriculum. As well, she serve’s on the institute’s curriculum committee.

Reid graduated cum laude in history and art history from Sonoma State University. She is founder of a family insurance business in Santa Rosa, as well as a theater director and figurative oil painter.

Please observe the following contest rules; otherwise, your entry may be disqualified.

  • DO NOT place your name or contact information anywhere on your play submission. This is a blind judging.
  • Only original, previously unpublished/unproduced work will be considered.
  • Maximum 10-minute play — usually one minute per page.
  • Maximum five actors, but any number of characters.
  • Play must take place in one scene or with continuous, non-stop action.
  • Format: Manuscripts must be single-spaced and use 12-point, Times or Times New Roman font in a Word document. Use standard play format. Click here for a sample play format.
  • Maximum two submissions per entrant. (Only one play per playwright will be eligible for production.)
  • Please use the online form (below) to submit your entry. Only submissions uploaded via the online form will be accepted for judging.
  • Upon submission, if you choose to pay with a check, please write “Play Contest” on the memo line.
