Editing literary fiction, non-fiction, memoir, dissertations and academic books.
I have been active with the self-publishing community for many years (former BAIPA board member), presenter and editorial consultant at SF Writers Conference for several years and at various CWCs and Mechanics Institute Library writers groups.
I have excellent resources including designers and publicists to support my clients moving their work toward publication.

Freelancing fiction and non-fiction since 1988 with writers as far flung as Sydney, Sofia, Beijing, London, Bangkok, and Johannesburg, as well as doctoral candidates around the US. I work collaboratively with clients to bring forth their passion – with clarity and coherence, while preserving and amplifying their distinctive voice. I strive for lively, efficient language, and challenge writers to develop their craft. I work with many genres, but am drawn to projects that reflect the beauty of this planet and the mystery of our hearts. I offer compassion, counseling skills, and creativity to bring forth the brilliance of both the writing and the collaborative relationship.

Overall, there’s a bottom-line marketing focu$ to all aspects of our work on behalf of authors…

Hi, I’m “Sam” Jernigan and have spent a lonnng stretch in the publishing trenches, having originally begun my work in this sector during the mid-90s while on staff with a then-sizable publishing company. They were based in TN and I worked as a Marketing Administrator in their satellite office in Santa Rosa. When they closed down their west coast operation, I hung out my own shingle, originally specializing in book promo.

Over the years, I’ve specialized in working with first-time authors for whom I’ve been able to acquire first tier publicity (see roster on my website), and have expanded into book development with the same aggressive marketing orientation.
