In this four-hour workshop, David Corbett, referencing his critically- acclaimed new book, The Art of Character, will help students:

  • Explore unique and compelling ways to conceive characters from the outset.
  • Deepen character portrayals by exploring the five essential qualities of compelling characterization.
  • Create character biographies that rely on dramatic scenes, not descriptive information.
  • Explore the character’s role in the story.
  • Examine techniques for rendering the character on the page, especially through voice and dialog.
