RULES
Please observe the following contest rules; otherwise, your entry may be disqualified.
- Open to all CWC members and non-members
- Only original, unpublished and unproduced works
- Must be appropriate for Readers Theater. Props and scene changes are limited, omitted, or narrated in performance.
- Length: No maximum page limit; however, when read out loud, play should fit within 10-minute time frame.
- Maximum 5 characters.
- Use any standard play format (see an example of a readers play in standard play format)
- Looking for uplifting, provocative, and poignant plays.
- Single space; 12-point Times New Roman font
- Judging is blind; do not put playwright’s name on script.
- Immediate family members of judges and chairs of this contest are not eligible to submit.
- Submission fees: $10 per play for Redwood Writers members; $15 per play for non-members
- Maximum of 2 plays can be submitted (1 play per playwright will be produced)
- Please use the online form to submit your entry and payment. Only submissions uploaded via the online form will be accepted for judging.
- Upon submission, if you choose to pay with a check, please make check out to “CWC Redwood,” and write “Play Contest” on the memo line.

JUDGES
HILARY MOORE

Poet/actor/director, Hilary Moore is a founding member of Off the Page Readers Theater. She started performing as a toddler, singing to family, followed by a childhood full of “let’s pretend.” Adult roles include many as an improv actor, and onstage in West County, Redding, and Port Townsend. Hilary began writing poems as a teen, and most recently was published in Redwood Writers’ Beyond Distance and Phyllis Meshulam’s The Freedom of New Beginnings.
BETH MOISE

Beth Moise has performed in musical comedies, dramatic plays and film throughout her life. She studied acting with Howard Orms and with Uta Hagen. In Sonoma County she has performed with Pegasus, 6th Street and Off The Page Readers Theater. She has been a judge for play and prose contests in Sonoma County. A successful performance begins with a play well written and she is dedicated to sharing her experience with Redwood Writers!
